The World Without Edge

The story of a young girl whose mother tells her on her 13th birthday, by way of explaining her father’s absence, that he is sometimes a catfish. The unfolding story braids together the tale of an above-average catfish and the mystery of a woman whose body was discovered in the lake. I like to think of it as Big Fish meets Fried Green Tomatoes.

The New Caretakers

A book of personal essays exploring the lasting effects of the opioid epidemic on Appalachian communities. This collection will explore themes of childhood neglect, family violence, grief, land enclosure, and ecological devastation. It will also explore the issues that have forced this generation of parents to relinquish custody of their children and the effect that these nontraditional family model’s have on children’s construction of the self.
